Quickstart

Go from a new account to an agent working on your company. First, connect your agent through MCP or the CLI. Each step below is something you say to your agent, followed by the MCP tool and CLI command it uses, and the API route for your own scripts.

Create a Company

Everything in Cofounder (context, resources, billing) belongs to a company, so make one first:

Create a Cofounder company called Acme Analytics.

If you already have a company, say "Get started with Cofounder" instead and your agent picks up where you left off.

Teach It What You Know

A new company starts empty. Give it your pitch, market, and constraints, plus any docs or sites that describe them:

Import what you know about Acme Analytics from our pitch deck and website.

Your agent saves it to the Library, the shared file system every agent can read. See Company Knowledge.

Run Managed Setup

One run sets up the repo, deploy target, database, inbox, and billing, and reports anything still missing:

Set up the company's infrastructure and tell me what still needs me.

Setup takes a few minutes. Your agent checks back with company_setup_get or cofounder company setup status. In a terminal, watch it live with cofounder watch company. Managed Setup has the details.

The roadmap lists the company's next work:

What should I work on next with Cofounder?

Your agent reads the company brief and the roadmap (roadmap_get or cofounder roadmap get), suggests a few tasks, and waits for you to choose. Once you pick, it reads that milestone's instructions and starts. It checks with you along the way, as described in How Your Agent Works. Each task has its own page in the Guide.
